As Valentines Day approaches in LOVEland, Colorado, hundreds of Valentines are displayed on downtown light poles, as this photo shows. Red hearts stenciled with white lettering declare messages of love from lovers to one another, parents to kids, friends to friends. LOVE IS IN THE AIR….literally!
The city of LOVEland also has a program of receiving Valentines from all 50 states and 120 countries. Volunteers receive these Valentine wishes in large envelopes, stamp them individually with a special message of LOVE from LOVEland and then mail them out to the intended recipients. This ReStamping program is in it’s 74th year!
One of my favorite LOVE SONGS, is a song by Cory Asbury entitled, RECKLESS LOVE. The lyrics describe the RECKLESS LOVE my God has for me and for ALL lost and broken people. It brings tears to my eyes…tears of joy, every time I hear it. If you have never heard it, use this youtube link and take it in..http://youtu.beSc6SSHuZvQE.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
- What is one of your favorite love songs?
- How easy is it for you to declare your love to others?
- How easy is it for you to receive love, from others?
- What needs to change for you to be able to ‘hear’ Gods love for you?
My sweet friend Melissa lost her husband in late 2018. He always had a heart put up for her and their kids. Last year and this year, someone made sure his traditional message got put up on a pole. It is the sweetest, most selfless gift.
